WHO I AM

Hi, I am Leah. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist with my MA in Counseling and Guidance and MBA. Like you, I am a person figuring out life. I have always had an innate sense for others and their struggles, however it took me a long time to turn that intuition inward and explore myself. Once I did, I realized so much…I just needed professional help to find it.

Having been both the client and the therapist, I understand that embarking on your own counseling journey can be difficult and scary. This is hard work, and it is my job to assist you in your journey. You deserve to live your best life. I promise you that in my office you will be respected, your experiences will be honored, and I will walk with you through your journey.

My background

We all have many layers, and I am no different.

I have a BSBA in Business and an MBA. However, my favorite thing to do when I was a finance manager was to assist my staff with conflicts and struggles. I finally realized I could no longer avoid my passion for helping others, exchanged my briefcase for a backpack, and went back to school. I graduated with my MA in Counseling and Guidance with an emphasis in couples and families.

I understand that every human is unique and has many life layers. I utilize my life layers of real-world experience, academia, and years of work with clients to provide help, awareness, and hope. I have a passion for mental health and geek out on continued learning. My diverse life experiences make me an invaluable resource in your therapy process.

In 2013, I began my journey as a mental health counselor in community settings. I spent extensive time working at intimate partner violence shelters with the individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. It was here that I was trained in trauma-focused therapy. I began my classes to begin to utilize EMDR therapy with my Clients after seeing the need to have a modality that could give survivors relief from the long-lasting wounds of trauma. I also began to learn and explore the powerful modalities of ACT, CBT, and IFS.

In 2020 I finished my training in EMDR and have implemented this modality into my practice.

In 2022 I completed the Holistic Sex Therapy Training Program at The Institute for Sexual Education and Enlightenment (ISEE). This intensive two-year program has added to who I am as a clinician and I bring elements of this important program into my work on a daily basis.

In 2023 I earned my certification as a Certified Sex Therapist accredited through the American Association of Sexual Educators Counselors and Therapists. I am very proud of earning my CST, and look forward to helping you tackle all of the difficult/straight forward/nuanced/hard/fun/vulnerable sex topics you may have. Its all welcome here. For real. You bring your topic in, and I got you.

Self discovery is not a destination, it is a constant journey.
